This time we're going to do it a little differently! Instead of a book, we'll look at the life story of the richest man on the planet at the time. The Steel Scotsman - Andrew Carnegie.

What will you learn in the new podcast?

When the teacher at school asked him to say a saying from the Bible, he told her: Watch out for the pennies and the euros will take care of themselves.

He came to prominence

He became a messenger boy for the telegraph company. Thanks to this job he had the opportunity to meet various people, especially the rich and important. He always tried to remember them so that he could greet them later on the street and thus become known.

Two faces

Andrew Carnegie was a contradictory man. On the one hand, a pioneer and progressive-minded man, on the other a relentless capitalist and technocrat. His positive legacy only fully manifested itself towards the end of his life and career. Perhaps he was thus trying to redeem himself and his conscience. His soul.

Money is not enough

He moved to New York, already a wealthy man. Yet he felt he was not happy. He didn't like just making money for money's sake.

⚖️ He deducted expenses

He also differed from his rivals by cutting expenses when the going got tough instead of reaching for profit. Watch the expenses and the profit will take care of itself - he often said.

  One day off

He tried to establish a competitive atmosphere among his employees. The workers worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. They had only one day off a year, and that was the 4th of July.

NBS. On the basis of Regulation (EU) 2020/1503 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 October 2020 on European crowdfunding service providers for business and amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1129 and Directive (EU) 2019/1937 (the "Regulation on European crowdfunding service providers for business"), crowdfunding will become a legally regulated activity. From the nature of the Regulation in question, it is expected that the authority authorising and supervising the activities of crowdfunding service providers within the Slovak Republic will be the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic or the National Bank of Slovakia. As a provider of crowdfunding services, we welcome this effort of the European Parliament and we are ready to actively participate in the implementation of the Regulation in order to clarify and set uniform rules for crowdfunding within Slovakia as well as throughout the European Union.
