Daniel Fekete is Country Manager for Financer.com Slovakia. He is a lover of good food, a traveler and a bookworm with a passion for learning about financial literacy and finance. Co-founder of the School of Modern Policy education program.
What is his profession?
He comes from a village near Trebišov. He studied international relations and diplomacy. He also works in digital marketing and copywriting. He writes on Financer.com. He is the author of blogs.
What is Financer.com?
It is a comparison tool for financial products. The biggest competition is Finančná hitparáda, TotalMoney.sk, etc. They try to offer customers the largest possible portfolio of products. The visitor comes to the site, they don't offer anything. It updates and collects data about visitors and helps them to make better decisions every time they make a decision. The project started in Sweden and is now available in more than 26 countries.
How did he get into the topic of financial literacy?
It is an integral part of the financial world. Financial literacy is the cornerstone to understanding what we have in our accounts. He was looking for an area where the site could move. He created a blog and started writing. His own experience and approach at home, where his mom wrote down all her expenses and income, led him to do this. For him, personal finance is a matter of planning. Avoiding purchases out of your waistline, if you can tell yourself what needs to be paid for and then put something aside, this is the way to go. Being aware of where I'm putting my money and whether or not I'm happy with it.
What topics do you like to cover most on your blog?
He approaches every topic in a way that people on the other side understand. He tries to write it "in a shovel" so that both an 18-year-old young man and a 45-year-old woman in a factory can understand it. He likes to write most about personal finance - where to put it away, why to put it away, what a financial reserve should be, etc.
How did the School of Modern Politics informal education programme come about?
It came about as a student initiative. They created a set of topics they would like to cover - communication, public administration, legislation, critical thinking, lobbying, political marketing and media. For each topic they prepared a list of lecturers, leaders in their profession, who came directly to Banská Bystrica, created networking and showed examples from practice.
Where it invests and What does he think of the real estate trend? Will prices turn around?
In terms of history, the real estate market is evolving. It is about curves, about the evolution of prices. Since 2009, real estate prices have been rising. He's been investing in mutual funds for a long time, came across the investment platform EstateGuru and is saving money to buy an investment apartment.
What role does education play in his life?
He likes education, he likes to read - prose, poetry, educational literature. He likes to know a lot, he is naturally curious. He doesn't have a recipe for everything, but he tries to get knowledge from "every little bit".
Which investment does he consider the worst and which the best?
At the age of twenty, he and his friends founded a regional news portal in Trebišov. They wrote news awards, photo reports, interviews and gained a readership. They wanted to expand their advertising portfolio. They bought billboards. They couldn't fill them. In the end, they sold them at an 80% loss. He considers anything related to education to be the best investment.
